Save the globe

28th May 2008

Global warming is one of the huge crises that the world is facing in this era. The temperature of the globe has been on the rise because of sloppy human activities. This eventually is going to have adverse effects on the ecology of the world, create new diseases, bring many creatures to their extinction, etc. Awareness is required among the public, especially among the school children regarding this issue.

As an awareness program regarding global warming we decided to have a poster designing competition among the school students. The competition was held in two categories. Grade 6, 7, 8 were placed in the first category and 9, 10, 11 in the second category. This competition was held between school students in Colombo. Students were asked to present their ideas about the ‘Global warming’ in the form of posters. Nearly 150 posters were collected from schools. The winners of this poster designing competition were judged by eminent art teachers.

Heart 2 Heart 2007(zoo visit)

25th August 2007

Sri Lankadhara society children home is place where our club members visit every week to spend time with those children. In our continuous visits we found those children go out less due to security reasons and various other reasons. Also we got to know children were much interested in visiting the zoo.

On the Saturday evening we took the children of Sri Lankathara orphanage to zoo. According to our plan every child was assigned in the care of a Leo. Children were thrilled to see wild animals and beautiful birds. In the meantime we had a break with snacks and drinks brought by our members.

It was certainly an unforgettable, life time experience for the little cute girls and boys, and also for our Leos. This project gave us a great satisfaction then many other projects we had done.
