Leos With Children @ IDP Camp


October 1st is celebrated as the World Children’s day. Our Leos jointly with the Leo Club of University of Moratuwa visited the IDP camp at vavuniya. There were lots of children in the camp at the time we visited. We spent the whole day with them.

Membership Growth Awareness Pin

Month of October is known as the membership growth month in the Leos calendar. Our club released a membership growth pin to mark this event. This pin was released to make an awareness about Leoism among the general public. It indeed reached many.


Raffle Draw Fund Raiser



It has been understood that our newly elected board should have funds to proceed with projects. So we needed to carry out a fund raiser. Therefore we came up with an idea of having a raffle draw. The tickets were distributed evenly among our Leos. Our Leos also sold the tickets by taking great effort. The tickets were sold out almost in three weeks. It was quite early than we expected. It was possible to do that because of the enthusiasm of our Leos

Birthday Celebration of Our Club

Our club celebrated its 18th birthday on the 23rd of October 2009. In order to mark this remarkable event we had a dinner party and get together for the club members.



Helping Hand


Jaffna district is very much affected by the recent war situation and the facilities are very much less there. There are very bright student in Jaffna district and unfortunately due to several reasons they are not in a situation to continue their studies properly. We selected 10 such children and sponsored their tuition fees.

First Aid Camp

First aid is an important aspect of Medical Aids which every one should know. A first Aid Camp was organized, by the club in order to make awareness among the members and others.


Money Donation


Mr K Vinothsan's needed to under go a kidney transplantation. His family needed Rs 1000000/= for his treatment and his family did not have this big amount. They asked helped from friends and relatives. As we got to know this we said this in a lions meeting. Many lions willingly helped and we collected some money and gave that patient

Leo Trip 2009

The leos of our club went on a trip to Kiriela. As we always engage our selves in service project as for a change we went on trip. We had games and many other fun activities there and all enjoyed a lot


Christmas with Kids


Sri Lankadhara society children home is place where our club members used to visit every week to spend time with those children. Though we do not follow Christianity, we planned to celebrate the Christmas for the children who are not fortunate enough to celebrate festivals due to various reasons.

Dinner With Kids

We celebrated one of our Leos, Leo Faiz ahemed’s birthday at Arun Shanthi Nivas Watala. We arranged a dinner for them


Good Bye 2009

We celebrated the year end at Sri Lankadara Society. Our Leos gathered there and enjoyed the evening with the kids and elders. We had lots of fireworks fun there

Recap of first quarter

The new board was selected in July 2009 and was installed by the District President Leo. V. T. Dinesh.

5th of July 2009 evening is a memorable day for all the club members. Yes, the new board for the fiscal year 2009/2010 was installed by the chief guest for the evening district president Leo.V.T.Dinesh. New president Leo.I Mathusoothan revealed his theme “Commit to Achieve” and the new theme banner.

Donation to IDP Camp @ Vavuniya

Our club members collected some donations, printed 8000 Past papers, bought A/L Books exercise and work books, Nutritious Drink Viva and Club name printed Pens and donated to Vavuniya IDP camp A/L Students who sat for the exam this year. The project was carried out by co coordinating with the teacher in charge appointed by the Education Ministry

We Visited Prithipura - Home for differently able children


Our Leos visited the Prithipura Home for differently abled people and spent the evening with the children and elders there. We arranged a tea party for them. We also donated a wheel chair for a disabled child and had a good time with them.

Dengue Awareness Flyers and Shramadana

The dengue awareness brochures was released during our district installation ceremony and distributed to visiting leos, parents and guests. Our leos jointly with the Colombo Municipal Council did sharamadana at arthusa colllege,wellawatta. Via this project they were able to destroy the mosquito breething places where there were high possibilities for dengue mosquitoes to grow.

Carnival Games and Fundraiser


Leos had a game stall at wellawatta St.Lawrence church carnival for 3 days and conducted many games like bow & arrow, gun shoot, ring & bottle and candle game and succeeded in raising considerable amount of fund for the club . We also displayed our service project photos banner and gave a good publicity of leosim.

Day of Love 2009

This project is carried out by the club over last 5 years successively. This time, our Leos cleaned the surrounding areas of the elders' home in the morning session. Later in the evening, our Leos, who were born August & September, celebrated their birthdays with the elders. We also organized games and entertainment items to entertain them.


Car Wash 2009

This fund-raising project was organized by the newly joined members of the club very successfully. Project Chairperson and joint chairperson raised a significant amount by selling out the car wash tickets to parents club Lions and the public. We carried out wash at Havelock road with the permission of Municipal Council on 16th August Sunday.

Leo Navarathri Day

Our Leos organized and sponsored Special Pooja and programme of “Navarathri” holy day at Ratmalana Hindu College, where Leos, teachers and hundreds of students took part in it. Our Leos prepared special foods and served the school children on that day
